America’s Got Talent Audition!
admin | March 2, 2009On March 1st, I drove to Chicago with Steve (my boyfriend) to try out for “America’s Got Talent”.
I had a private appointment, so I didn’t have to wait in line at all (it’s good to know people….thanks again DJ!!!), so that was a real treat. We ended up getting to the venue at about 4:00pm and my appointment was at 6:00pm. I registered and then was taken to a private room with some other acts (I guess they knew people too!). I waited for a while and was finally taken to an audition room with two people sitting behind the table and another person video taping. I was asked to say my full name, where I was from, and what I was going to sing.
I sang “At Last” by Etta James. I think it may have been the best I have ever sang it, so I was really excited. I had given the man behind the table a brochure with my Mom and I on it, talking about our Biggest Loser experience. He seemed really interested in it! he asked me to wait outside for a few minutes while he went over my paperwork. After a few minutes, a girl came out and led me to another audition room. I had my picture taken, a few more questions were asked, then we waited again. I was called to audition again in another room, this time with 2 men behind a table (they looked like “big wigs”) and another video camera. Again, I sang “At Last.” They were very impressed, but asked if I sang any current hits. They really put me on the spot!! I ended up singing “Killing me Softly” and they loved it. Then they said that they don’t make any decisions on that day and I would hear from them in about 3 weeks if I made it to the next round. I was then escorted out. Then brought back in!! They wanted to ask me some more questions about Biggest Loser and my confidence now that I have lost all the weight, etc. So, then I was asked to wait for more directions. Some people that came out of that second audition room were just told by the PA’s that they would call in 3 weeks if they made it, and they were sent on their way. BUT, I was asked to stay behind and someone would call me to yet ANOTHER room! I went into a third room and was handed a binder titled “Approved Song List”, which was a book of songs cleared for TV airing. The woman stated that they don’t make decisions that same day, BUT that it was NOT a bad thing that I was sitting in the room with her
:)
:) She told me to pick 3 songs from the book that I would like to sing IF I was chosen to be on the show. AHHHH!!!! She asked me some more questions and then it was finally time to go. SOOOOOO, I am still not sure what’s in store, and If i do make it, I should find out in 3 or so weeks. They tape the Chicago show LIVE in Los Angeles from June-July, so I may be spending another summer in LA….yayayayay!!!!
Thanks to everyone for the support, and please continue to cross your fingers and pray for me!!!!!!
